Longtime Darlington High softball coach Wiley retires

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Tim Wiley, who has coached Darlington High School’s (DHS) softball team since 2007, called it a career following the 2021 season. Wiley guided the Falcons to a 2008 AAA State Championship and several other titles during his tenure.

The Lady Falcons clinched AAA Lower State Championships on 2008, 2010 and 2013. They won consecutive AAA Region titles in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Wiley’s time with the program came to an end this past year with a AAAA Lower State Championship and the Region Championship, falling just short of another state title.

“Coach Wiley has had phenomenal success in his years as our varsity softball coach at Darlington High School, and we are thankful for his years of commitment to the program and our young ladies,” said Cortney Gehrke, DHS principal. “We wish him the best in his retirement.”

DHS has already begun the search for a new head coach.
