Hello My Name Is...
Born and raised in California, I moved to Darlington in 1991 and now call it home. After moving here, I finished my Bachelor's Degree in English Education and Psychology at Coker College in 1995 and earned my Master's Degree in Secondary Education - English from Francis Marion University in 2000, and I am currently working on a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. In 2003, I earned National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adult English Language Arts. I became a DHS Falcon in 1999 and have been soaring ever since.
The 2016-2017 school year marks my 21st year teaching and my 17th year at DHS, and I can honestly say that I still love my job and working with my students. This year I am teaching Yearbook and dual credit college English through Florence-Darlington Technical College; I am also the Early College Honors Program Coordinator, an instructor in the Honors College, and a member of the Leadership Team. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, three children, and our dog. I also enjoy participating in church activities at Darlington Presbyterian Church, cooking, reading, swimming, geocaching, and just hanging out. One of my newest (and most time consuming) activities is working on our beloved OLD house.
If you have any questions about what we are doing in class, about your child's progress or behavior, would like to set a time for tutoring, or have a yearbook or school picture question, please contact me by phone at (843) 398-2796 or by email at Debra.Wallace@darlington.k12.sc.us.
