Dear Parents:
I am looking forward to having your student in my Academic Coach classes this year.  I expect it to be a great 2018-2019 school year.  I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of some things about my class.

This class is designed to be a tutorial class to provide support help for your student in his/her mainstream classes and also prepare your student for upcoming tests such as EOC, ACT or SAT.  I will be providing instruction in all areas that support these mainstream classes.  However, this will not be done in a manner to provide a grade for a specific curriculum.  In order to have a grade for this class I have devised the following plan:

Each student is required to keep an assignment agenda/notebook for his/her mainstream classes in which he/she writes homework assignments, test dates, and major projects with due dates.  Also each student must maintain a notebook and participate daily on preparation tasks for mainstream classes for a grade.  These will be compiled into points.  If a student does everything he/she needs to do, then his/her grade will be an A.  If a student does not follow rules or misbehaves, his/her points will be reduced.  At the end of the 9 weeks, I will compile all of the points together and this is the student’s grade.

It would be helpful if you would ask to see your student’s assignment agenda/notebook each day.  That way you can check up on homework and keep up with areas of study as the semester progresses.  I may ask you to sign the agenda so I know that you have seen the agenda.

My classroom rules are the Darlington County Code of Ethics.  I have this posted in my classroom and have it below for your information.
