Applying to the Darlington High School
Early College Honors Magnet Program is easy!

Step 1: Magnet Applications Open January 3, 2023

Students will hear presentations from the district magnet programs.

Step 3: New Applicant Information Night January 19, 2023

Attend our information night from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the DHS Cafeteria.

Step 4: Application Window
January 3-27, 2023
Applications are available online. 
 Applications are based on (not in any particular order):

Teacher recommendations Grades Behavior record Attendance Writing sample


Step 5: Magnet Application Processing & Evaluation January 30 - March 13, 2023

Step 6: Magnet Student Shadow Experience  March TBA, 2023

Step 7: Results Notification

March 27, 2023
Students will receive an email from the district informing students to which program(s) they were accepted.  Students who were denied acceptance to any of the programs to which they applied may appeal the decision with the district by following the directions provided in the email.



Step 8: Magnet Appeals Period 
March 12 - 31, 2023

Students requesting an appeal will be contacted and asked to complete an appeal interview during this part of the process. The magnet appeal deadline is March 23, 2023, and appeal interviews will be held March 27 - 31, 2023. 


Step 9: Final Notification April 19, 2023
Magnet applicants will be emailed final results of their acceptance and any waiting list information. Applicants will also be asked to confirm their place in the ECHP.
Step 10: Program Confirmation
April 26, 2023

Once students have received an email notifying them of their acceptance to the Early College Honors Program at DHS, they need to return their confirmation by the deadline. Even students zoned to attend DHS who are accepted to the ECHP need to submit their confirmations. Failure to submit the confirmation will result in NOT being in the program, not being ineligible to take dual credit college courses, and needing to apply again next year.
